War often causes cultural heritage to be moved or even lost. Objects are hidden away to prevent others from getting their hands on them. They may also be seized and carried off as booty. On account of its value and the prestige associated with it, gold has been particularly coveted throughout history. 

This film shows what happened to the Hiddensee and the Hoen Hoards during World War II: in being concealed, confiscated, or restored to their previous owners, the gold treasures were also simultaneously co-opted by the discourse.
